Sweater Lot Light Sport Weight Cashmere Recycled Yarn in Burnt Orange, Slate Blue, and Ecru
100% cashmere yarn, carefully reclaimed from a gently worn women’s turtleneck sweater. These colors go so beautifully together that I’m selling all five skeins together as one lot. This yarn is made up of several fine 2-ply strands held together, and is a light sport weight at 12-13 wraps per inch. There are two skeins of slate blue yarn, two of a pale greyish off white or ecru, and one of a rich brownish orange or burnt orange.
All put together, this lot has a total of 1900 yards and 14.9 ounces.
Exact yardage is as follows:
- Burnt orange: one skein
- 450 yards / 411 meters, 3.6 ounces / 101 grams, no knots
- Slate blue: two skeins
- 400 yards / 366 meters, 3.1 ounces / 89 grams, 1 knot
- 400 yards / 366 meters, 3.1 ounces / 89 grams, no knots
- Ecru: two skeins
- 440 yards / 402 meters, 3.4 ounces / 97 grams, no knots
- 210 yards / 192 meters, 1.7 ounces / 47 grams, no knots
Please review all photos carefully before purchasing, and contact us if you have any questions.
Would you like your skein wound into a center-pull ball? We would be happy to wind your yarn for you free of charge. Just leave us a note when you place your order.
Cashmere is light, warm, soft, and surprisingly durable. Handwash in lukewarm water with a wool-safe detergent (or a squirt of shampoo and a dab of conditioner), and dry flat.
Did you know–soaring US demand for cashmere has devastated parts of China’s landscape? Overgrazing by cashmere-producing goats has led to the “desertification” of formerly rich grasslands. If you want to help reduce demand, enjoy the luxury of cashmere in a more thoughtful way, by buying recycled yarn instead of new.
